2018 Bin 17 Shiraz

2018 was a great vintage. Good rains during last winter ensured a full soil moisture profile. Consistent weather until late Summer also helped the vines gain strength to settle for a couple of hot spells just before ripening which was marked by ideal dry conditions.

Picked from Blocks 18 and 19 at the bottom of the vineyard, running north to south. These 40-year-old vines are usually the first we harvest, and they always stand apart. More mineral, more elegant, more complex – a natural fit for a special Bin release.

17/2/2018 – 4.6 tonnes of fruit was received from Blocks 18/19 at 14 Bé. Crushed to F6. 5 days on skins. 17 months in seasoned American oak. Bottled 12/7/2019 at 14.3% alc/vol.
